Sealing ductwork after cleaning is crucial primarily to prevent recontamination and improve system efficiency. During the cleaning process, contaminants and debris are removed from the duct system, which enhances indoor air quality. However, if the ductwork is not properly sealed afterward, pollutants from the surrounding environment can easily enter the ducts, leading to the same problems that cleaning aimed to resolve.

Additionally, well-sealed ductwork helps to maintain a more efficient system by reducing air leaks. When there are gaps or holes, conditioned air can escape, leading to higher energy costs and an increased load on HVAC systems. This sealing process ensures that the airflow remains contained and directed through the intended pathways, maximizing the system's efficiency and effectiveness while minimizing energy waste.

In contrast, adding structural support, reducing operational noise, and enhancing air flow dynamics, while relevant to different aspects of ductwork, do not directly address the primary reasons for sealing post-cleaning. Sealing is fundamentally about maintaining cleanliness and operational efficiency.
